Les Misérables, Raphaël Denis.
Galerie Sator.jpg)
Corps 1, a series initiated by Raphaël Denis and the Collectif Anonyme, presents the entirety of a literary work on a single page. Transcribed on paper in a tiny, barely legible font, it turns into a chiné grey monochrome. Neither a library book nor an artist’s book, Corps 1 offers a novel way of viewing text, one that calls for contemplation rather than reading; the piece straddles several categories, toppling over into one or another according to distance, curiosity or the viewer’s visual capacity. To date, La Princesse de Clèves by Madame de La Fayette and À La Recherche du Temps Perdu by Marcel Proust have been printed. A new, single-copy version of Victor Hugo’s Les Misérables will be presented for the first time.
