Who are we ?

Guides de charme Rivages

Guides de Charme is completely independent. For the last 25 years, our authors have been on the road, doing their best to uncover the most charming hotels, inns and guest houses. The charming guides, which are written every year, are the result of their wanderings.

Authors select the accommodations after evaluating the hospitality, comfort, calm, environment, aesthetic qualities, atmosphere or any other detail that might contribute to the overall notion of charm..

Through our website, you can either contact the establishments directly (by phone or by clicking on their website) or reserve on line with Guidesdecharme.com.

News : Pour l'amour de l'art

For the Love of Art
An exciting art show is a great excuse to treat oneself to a jaunt in a foreign land. A hop, skip and jump, and you find yourself in another European city admiring the exhibition everyone has been talking about, or finally setting foot in that famous museum. Four Italian and Spanish cities lend themselves to this kind of cultural excursion during the month of February.

The fabulous Guggenheim Museum of Bilbao is currently presenting works by Japanese pop artist Takashi Murakami, the one avant-garde collectors are most excited about. To stay with this contemporary and hipster vibe, head to the Hotel Miro.

In Madrid, you can enjoy the fascinating Francis Bacon retrospective at the Prado Museum, which brings together all his key works. It’s also the opportunity for you to discover the Urban Hotel, whose surprising decorating choices mix contemporary design with African art. Other features include glass walls and a terrace with a panoramic view.

In Venice, 40 years of Italian contemporary art are on show at the Grassi Palace. To keep with this theme, hang your hat at Hotel House DD724, whose bright spaces and black and white colour choices complement Le Corbusier-inspired furniture. Resolutely chic.

In Rome, where artist Bertrand Lavier has taken over several rooms of the Villa Medicis to express his most recent thoughts on the history of art, consider staying at Hotel Santa Maria. It’s a parcel of countryside in the heart of the city and one of the few places to successfully create a cosy atmosphere within a loft-style aesthetic.
